These Terms of Use and Booking Conditions (the “Terms”) govern access to www.greekaway.com, use of the Greekaway website and related digital services, and bookings for private transfers and day tours. Please read them before submitting a booking request. They contain important information about how a booking is formed, payment authorisation, service delivery, cancellations, refunds and the responsibilities of both parties.
By using the website, you agree to the provisions that concern website use. By submitting a booking request and expressly accepting the version of these Terms displayed at checkout, you confirm that you have read and accepted the booking provisions for yourself and for every passenger included in the booking. Mandatory rights granted by applicable law remain unaffected.
Greekaway is the trading name of AWAY SYSTEMS O.E., a general partnership established under Greek law, with registered office at 18 Mitropoliti Grigoriou Kydonion Street, Nea Smyrni, Athens 17123, Greece, VAT number 802723119 and G.E.MI. registration number 181583603000 (“Greekaway”, “Away Systems”, “we”, “us” or “our”).
Our contact details are info@greekaway.com and +30 693 7184 551. References to a “Customer” mean the person who makes the booking. A “Passenger” is any person travelling under that booking. The “Performing Carrier” is Away Systems or another duly authorised transport provider that physically performs the service.
These Terms apply to the website and to the transport services described in the relevant product page, quotation and Booking Confirmation. They should be read together with the booking details, our Privacy Policy & GDPR Notice and our Cookie Policy. Where a Booking Confirmation contains a specific term that was clearly disclosed before payment, that specific term prevails over a general provision in these Terms for that booking only.
The services currently offered through Greekaway are standalone passenger transport services, including private point-to-point transfers and vehicle-based day tours. Unless a product page expressly states otherwise, accommodation, overnight stays and combinations of separate travel services are not included. If Greekaway later offers a service that constitutes a package or linked travel arrangement under Presidential Decree 7/2018 and Directive (EU) 2015/2302, separate mandatory information and terms will apply before that product is sold.
You must be at least 18 years old and have legal capacity to submit a booking. If you book for other passengers, you confirm that you are authorised to provide their booking information, make decisions concerning the booking and accept these Terms on their behalf. You are responsible for ensuring that every passenger receives the relevant booking information, including pickup instructions, luggage limits and conduct requirements.
If you make a booking for business purposes, consumer-specific provisions apply only to the extent required by law. We may request reasonable evidence of identity, authority to book or payment authorisation where this is necessary to prevent fraud, protect passengers or comply with law.
A Transfer is a pre-booked passenger journey between the pickup and destination shown in the Booking Confirmation. Pickup or destination points may include airports, ports, railway or bus stations, hotels, private addresses and other locations that can lawfully and safely be served. Any stops, waiting time or special assistance included in the price will be stated during booking or in the Booking Confirmation.
A Day Tour is a pre-booked vehicle and driver service for the itinerary, duration and stops shown on the relevant product page and in the Booking Confirmation. Unless expressly stated, a Day Tour does not include accommodation, meals, drinks, entrance tickets, licensed guiding inside archaeological sites or museums, or personal expenses. A driver may provide practical information and assistance but is not a licensed tour guide unless a licensed guide is expressly included in the booking.
A service is private to the passengers included in the booking unless it is expressly described as shared. Vehicle photographs and model names are illustrative of a category. We may use an equivalent or higher-category vehicle where operationally necessary, provided that it is suitable for the confirmed number of passengers and declared luggage. A specific make, model, colour or registration number is not guaranteed unless expressly confirmed in writing.
Available dates, pickup times, routes and vehicle categories are displayed dynamically and may vary according to service type, location, vehicle, demand and operational conditions. Minimum booking notice and maximum advance-booking periods may also vary. These restrictions will be shown through the booking interface before you submit a request; they are not fixed by these Terms.
Submitting a booking through the website creates a request for the selected service. An automatic acknowledgement or a temporary card authorisation does not by itself mean that the booking has been accepted. The booking becomes confirmed only when Greekaway has secured the service and sends a Booking Confirmation with a booking reference and confirmed status.
For card bookings, the full amount may be temporarily authorised when the request is submitted. We capture the authorised amount only after a suitable driver or Performing Carrier has been secured and the booking is confirmed. If the request cannot be confirmed, we cancel the authorisation. The time taken for a released authorisation to disappear from your account is controlled by your bank or card issuer.
The Booking Confirmation will normally identify the service type, pickup date and local time, pickup and destination, vehicle category, passenger and luggage information, total price, payment status and contact instructions. It may also identify the Performing Carrier or the person entitled to collect payment where this differs from Away Systems. You must check the confirmation promptly and notify us of any error.
Greekaway may decline a request where no suitable vehicle or driver is available, the route cannot lawfully or safely be served, the information supplied is incomplete or inconsistent, payment authorisation fails, or there is a reasonable fraud, safety or compliance concern. A declined or unconfirmed request does not create an obligation to perform the service.
You must provide complete and accurate information, including your name, email address, telephone number with international country code, pickup and destination, date and time, flight or vessel details where relevant, passenger count, luggage and any special requirements. Your telephone must be reachable around the pickup time. If your usual number will not work in Greece, you should provide another reachable number.
We are not responsible for a delay, failed pickup, additional cost or inability to perform that results from materially incorrect, incomplete or late information supplied by you, except to the extent that we could reasonably have prevented the problem. A change to the route, time, passenger count, luggage or vehicle requirement may require a new quotation or booking.
Prices are shown in euros unless another currency is expressly stated. A price is per vehicle unless the product page clearly states that it is per passenger. Before payment authorisation, the checkout displays the total amount payable for the itinerary, vehicle and options selected, including mandatory taxes and charges known to us.
The confirmed price will not be increased because of ordinary traffic or route conditions. It may change only where you request or accept a material change, such as a different pickup time, route, destination, additional stop, longer waiting period, extra service, larger vehicle or a new booking date. Any revised amount must be disclosed and accepted before it is charged.
Where applicable transport or tax law requires use of a taximeter, statutory tariff component or fiscal device, that requirement will be respected and the relevant fiscal document will be issued. It does not permit an undisclosed charge above the total amount agreed with the Customer.
Unless stated otherwise, prices do not include entrance fees, museum or archaeological-site tickets, licensed guides, meals, drinks, accommodation, personal purchases, optional gratuities, costs created by undeclared excess luggage or passengers, or additional services requested after confirmation.
Card payments are processed through Stripe or another payment provider identified at checkout. Greekaway does not receive or store the complete card number. Your bank may apply its own currency-conversion, international-transaction or account charges; these are not Greekaway charges.
A temporary authorisation reserves the amount but is not a completed payment. Capture takes place only when the booking is confirmed. If the authorisation expires before confirmation, we may ask you to authorise payment again. We will not repeatedly capture or charge the same booking, and duplicate or incorrect charges will be corrected.
Cash or another payment method is available only when shown during booking or expressly confirmed by us. The Booking Confirmation will state when and to whom payment is due. A cash payment does not create a Stripe transaction, and any repayment due for a cash booking must be handled through an appropriate non-Stripe method.
Receipts or invoices are issued in accordance with applicable Greek tax and transport rules. If you require an invoice, you must provide complete and accurate invoicing details within the time and through the method stated during booking or in the confirmation.
You must be ready at the confirmed pickup point and time, with access to the email or telephone number used for the booking. The driver may ask to see the Booking Confirmation and reasonable identification before boarding. Pickup instructions, driver details and any included waiting period may be sent by email, message or through My Bookings.
If you cannot locate the driver, you must contact Greekaway promptly and remain at the agreed pickup point for a reasonable period while we try to connect you. Leaving without contacting us and without giving us a reasonable opportunity to resolve the situation may be treated as a customer no-show if the driver was present and available.
Where you provide a valid flight or vessel number, we will make reasonable efforts to monitor the published arrival time and adjust the pickup arrangements. Monitoring does not replace your duty to inform us of a cancellation, diversion, major schedule change, missed connection or change of terminal as soon as you become aware of it.
The included waiting period, and the point from which it begins, will be displayed in the booking details or confirmation. Additional waiting is subject to driver availability, legal working limits and any price disclosed and accepted before it is charged.
The confirmed passenger count must not exceed the legal capacity of the vehicle. Children and infants count as passengers and must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult. Child or booster seats must be requested in advance where required; provision is subject to availability and the information supplied about the child.
Please tell us before booking, or as early as reasonably possible, about a wheelchair, reduced mobility, assistance requirement, service animal, medical device or other circumstance that may affect the suitable vehicle or safe performance of the service. We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate requirements and will comply with applicable non-discrimination and accessibility duties. Greekaway is not an ambulance or emergency medical transport service.
A passenger who knows of a medical condition that may require special arrangements should seek appropriate medical advice and disclose only the information reasonably necessary for safe transport. In an emergency, the driver may contact emergency services.
You must declare the number and approximate type of luggage, including large suitcases, special equipment, wheelchairs, pushchairs and unusually shaped items. The driver may refuse an undeclared item that cannot be carried lawfully or safely. If the declared luggage requires a larger vehicle, any price difference will be shown before a replacement vehicle is confirmed.
Dangerous, illegal, inadequately packed or excessively heavy items may not be carried. Passengers remain responsible for their belongings and should not leave money, documents, jewellery, electronics or other valuables unattended. Report lost property promptly; we will make reasonable efforts to locate and return it but cannot guarantee recovery. Any mandatory carrier liability remains unaffected.
Passengers must follow reasonable safety instructions, wear seat belts where required, respect the vehicle and refrain from smoking, unlawful conduct, threats, harassment or behaviour that materially endangers or disturbs the driver, passengers or the public. Food, alcohol or animals may be restricted where necessary for safety, hygiene or applicable law, subject to legal rights concerning assistance animals.
The driver may refuse to begin or may stop a service where continuing would be illegal or create a genuine safety risk, including because of violent behaviour, serious intoxication, excess passengers, dangerous luggage or a request to drive unlawfully. Where the failure is caused by the Customer or a Passenger, it may be treated as a no-show or customer cancellation and no refund may be due, without limiting any mandatory legal right.
The published itinerary, approximate duration and planned stops describe the intended service. Traffic, weather, road closures, public-authority instructions, opening hours, capacity restrictions or safety conditions may require a reasonable change in route, order or timing. Where possible, we will notify you and offer a suitable alternative of comparable character.
Greekaway does not control the opening, admission, queues or operation of museums, archaeological sites, restaurants or other independent venues. If an included element becomes unavailable before the tour, we will explain any material effect and the available remedy. Optional activities or purchases made directly from a third party are governed by that party’s terms.
Additional stops, material route changes or an extension beyond the confirmed duration require the driver’s agreement, must remain lawful and safe, and may involve an additional price accepted before the extra service is provided.
A service may be performed by Away Systems or subcontracted to an independent transport provider that is required to hold the licences, vehicle documents, insurance and driver qualifications applicable to the service it performs. Greekaway may share the booking details reasonably necessary for pickup and performance, as explained in the Privacy Policy & GDPR Notice.
Unless the Booking Confirmation expressly and clearly identifies an independent provider as the contracting provider, the Customer’s booking contract remains with Away Systems. Subcontracting physical performance does not remove any responsibility that applicable law places on Away Systems. Where a third party contracts directly with the Customer or collects payment in its own capacity, that role and the relevant payment arrangements must be identified in the Booking Confirmation.
Cancellation periods are calculated backwards from the scheduled pickup time shown in the Booking Confirmation, using the local time at the pickup location. They do not run from the time the request was submitted or from the time it was confirmed. A cancellation is effective when it is received through the cancellation method stated in the confirmation or by email at info@greekaway.com from the booking email address.
A booking request that is still pending confirmation may be withdrawn without charge. For a card request, we will cancel the payment authorisation rather than issue a refund because no capture has taken place.
The applicable percentage is calculated separately for each confirmed service unless several elements were expressly sold as one service.
If a request is submitted inside one of the cancellation periods above, the corresponding refund rule applies immediately once the booking is confirmed. For example, a Transfer confirmed two hours before pickup is non-refundable from confirmation. Before confirmation, the pending request may still be withdrawn without charge.
A change of date, pickup time, route, destination, vehicle category or other material booking detail is treated as cancellation of the existing booking and submission of a new request. The cancellation table applies to the original booking, while the replacement is subject to current availability and price. We may assist with a change where practical, but no change is effective until confirmed in writing.
A no-show occurs when the Passenger is not present within the included waiting period, cannot be reached using the supplied contact details after reasonable attempts, or leaves the pickup location despite the driver being present and without first contacting Greekaway. No refund is due for a no-show or for a service or portion of a service that the Customer chooses not to use after it has begun.
For an airport pickup, if the airline cancels the identified flight and you notify us before the assigned driver has begun travelling to the pickup, you may request either a full refund or a replacement booking, subject to availability and any price difference. We may request reasonable evidence of the airline cancellation. A missed flight or connection caused by the Passenger is governed by the normal cancellation rules.
An eligible 100% refund means the full amount captured for the cancelled service. We do not deduct an administration fee or our card-processing cost from that amount. Currency-conversion differences or charges imposed independently by the Customer’s bank or card issuer are outside our control.
If no suitable driver or Performing Carrier can be secured, the request will not be confirmed and any card authorisation will be cancelled. This is a no-driver outcome, not a Customer cancellation.
If Greekaway cancels a confirmed service or cannot perform it, you may choose a reasonable alternative offered by us or receive a 100% refund for the unperformed service. If only part of a service is not performed, we will provide an appropriate remedy or proportionate refund, taking account of the part actually supplied and any mandatory legal rights.
Card refunds are returned to the original payment method. We will initiate an approved refund without undue delay and no later than 14 calendar days after the cancellation is agreed or the refund becomes due. Your bank or payment provider controls the time required for the amount to appear. Cash repayments do not pass through Stripe and will be arranged separately.
Road traffic, accidents, severe weather, strikes, demonstrations, road or site closures, police or public-authority measures, security incidents, natural events, public-health restrictions, transport-terminal disruption and similar events may affect timing or route. We will use reasonable efforts to notify you, reduce disruption and provide a lawful and safe alternative.
If such an event makes the confirmed service impossible before it begins and no reasonable alternative is accepted, we will refund the unperformed service. If the service remains available but the Customer chooses not to travel for personal reasons or concern, the normal cancellation policy applies unless mandatory law provides otherwise.
Drivers must comply with road-safety rules, vehicle capacity, legally required breaks and instructions of competent authorities. Neither a Customer request nor a timetable requires a driver to act unlawfully or unsafely.
The Customer is responsible for choosing a pickup time that allows a reasonable margin for check-in, security, boarding, traffic and other travel formalities. Estimated travel times shown on the website or by mapping services are guidance only and are not guarantees.
Tell us before confirmation if timely arrival is critical because of a flight, ferry, train, event or appointment. Subject to mandatory law, Greekaway is not responsible for the cost of a separate ticket, accommodation, event or arrangement that is missed because the Customer selected an insufficient margin or because of an event outside our reasonable control. This does not exclude liability arising from our negligence where it cannot lawfully be excluded.
If a problem arises during the service, contact Greekaway promptly and, where appropriate, inform the driver so that we have a reasonable opportunity to investigate and remedy it. If the matter is not resolved, email info@greekaway.com with the booking reference, a clear description and any relevant evidence. We ask that complaints be submitted as soon as reasonably possible, preferably within 30 days; this request does not shorten any statutory limitation period or remove a legal right.
We will acknowledge and assess complaints in good faith. We may need information from the Performing Carrier, payment provider or other relevant party and will process personal data for that purpose in accordance with the Privacy Policy & GDPR Notice.
We aim to keep the website accurate and available, but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. Maintenance, network failure, third-party services or security incidents may temporarily affect availability. A technical error on the website does not alter a confirmed booking unless we contact you and agree a correction in accordance with applicable law.
You may use the website only for lawful personal or business travel arrangements. You must not attempt unauthorised access, interfere with security, introduce malicious code, scrape or copy substantial parts of the service, make fraudulent or speculative bookings, impersonate another person, or use automated means that impose an unreasonable load.
Maps, route estimates, destination descriptions, ratings, photographs and media are provided to assist planning. They may contain third-party information or reflect conditions that later change. A wishlist, saved item, search result or price indication is not a reservation and does not guarantee availability.
Some features may be accessed through a passwordless magic link sent to the email address associated with a booking. You are responsible for protecting access to that email account and for notifying us promptly if you believe a link or session has been used without authority. We may suspend a session or request verification where reasonably necessary for security.
Information shown in My Bookings is intended to help you manage confirmed and historical bookings. The Booking Confirmation and the version of the Terms accepted for that booking remain the authoritative contractual record if there is a temporary display or synchronisation error.
The Greekaway name, website design, software, text, selection and arrangement of content, logos and original media are owned by Away Systems or used under licence. You may view and use them for your own lawful booking and travel planning. No ownership right is transferred to you.
Without prior written permission, you may not reproduce, commercially exploit, modify, distribute, reverse engineer or create a competing database from protected website content, except where applicable law expressly permits it. Third-party names, maps, photographs and other materials remain subject to their respective owners’ rights.
We process personal data required to operate the website, assess and fulfil booking requests, communicate with Customers and Passengers, process payment, meet legal obligations, prevent fraud and handle complaints. Details of the data, purposes, legal bases, recipients, retention periods, international transfers and individual rights are set out in the Greekaway Privacy Policy & GDPR Notice.
The Cookie Policy explains the cookies and similar browser-storage technologies actually used by the website and the choices available to users. Where consent is legally required, non-essential technologies will not be activated before valid consent.
Greekaway will perform its contractual obligations with reasonable skill and care and will comply with duties that cannot be excluded under applicable transport, consumer and civil law. Where Away Systems is the contracting provider, the use of a subcontracted Performing Carrier does not remove responsibility imposed on Away Systems by mandatory law.
We are not responsible for loss caused exclusively by inaccurate information or a breach of these Terms by the Customer or Passenger, by an independent venue or service separately purchased by the Customer, or by an event outside our reasonable control that could not reasonably have been avoided. Any limitation is subject to the specific facts and applicable mandatory law.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, wilful misconduct, gross negligence where it cannot be limited, or any other liability or consumer right that the law does not permit us to exclude. Any limitation of liability applies only to the extent permitted by mandatory law.
The usual 14-day withdrawal period for many distance contracts does not generally apply to confirmed passenger transport services, and dated leisure services may also fall within a statutory exception, under the rules implementing Directive 2011/83/EU. The contractual cancellation rights in Section 15 therefore apply to the extent permitted by law. This clause does not remove any mandatory withdrawal or cancellation right that applies to a particular booking.
These Terms and each booking are governed by Greek law, including the Greek Civil Code, Law 2251/1994 on Consumer Protection, as amended, and Presidential Decree 131/2003 on electronic commerce, together with directly applicable European Union law. If you are a consumer habitually resident in another country, this choice does not deprive you of mandatory protections that would apply under the law of that country.
We encourage you to contact us first so that we can try to resolve a dispute directly. Consumers may also seek information or submit an eligible complaint to the Hellenic Consumer Ombudsman.
Any court proceedings will be brought before the courts competent under applicable procedural and consumer-protection rules. Nothing in these Terms requires a consumer to waive a mandatory right to bring proceedings before another competent court.
We may update these Terms to reflect changes in law, services or website operation. An update applies prospectively from the effective date shown on the public page. The version displayed and accepted when a booking is submitted, together with the Booking Confirmation and product-specific information, governs that booking unless a later change is required by mandatory law or is expressly agreed with the Customer.
If a provision is found invalid or unenforceable, it will be applied to the maximum lawful extent and the remaining provisions will continue in effect. A delay in enforcing a right is not a waiver. Headings assist navigation and do not change the meaning of a provision.
The English version is the initial authoritative version of these Terms. If translations are provided, they are intended to assist users; mandatory language rules and consumer protections remain unaffected.
Questions, cancellation notices and complaints may be sent to AWAY SYSTEMS O.E. (Greekaway), 18 Mitropoliti Grigoriou Kydonion Street, Nea Smyrni, Athens 17123, Greece; email: info@greekaway.com; telephone/WhatsApp: +30 693 7184 551.
